Two powerhouses in the industrial landscape have made history today, joining forces to create a successful business relationship in Australia.

Gateway Capital and Cadillac Fairview have collaborated to form the Gateway Capital Urban Logistics Partnership, a $1 billion investment to buy and construct industrial and logistics properties in Australia. Cadillac Fairview is the real estate organization of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

Gateway Capital, a Sydney-based company, has received a minority investment from Cadillac Fairview and Grosvenor, a UK-based investor. The majority shareholding remains with the co-founders, Stuart Dawes and Peter McDonald.

Reports state that Cadillac Fairview could potentially invest A$700m, but Gateway Capital still needs to confirm this information.

The Gateway Capital Urban Logistics Partnership (GULP), a recently formed partnership, has identified potential acquisitions and will start investing in the coming months. GULP is governed by Cadillac Fairview, the primary investor, and has co-investments from Gateway Capital.

IPE Real Assets knows that Gateway is in talks with additional foreign investors interested in joining their organisation.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Gateway Capital, as it is our second investment in Australia. We look forward to working with such a skilled management team,” said the regional head of APAC at Cadillac Fairview, Karl Kreppner

Jun Ando, the managing director of APAC at Cadillac Fairview, believes this project will be the first of several investments directly made in the industrial and logistics sector throughout Asia Pacific as they strive to increase their presence in the region.

Gateway Capital co-founder and CEO Stuart Dawes stated that they firmly believe in the potential of urban industrial and logistics markets. They are confident that their expertise and successful track record in these markets will enable them to identify assets where they can add value and create attractive core assets, ultimately delivering strong investor returns.

The collaboration between Gateway Capital and Cadillac Fairview is a significant milestone in the industrial landscape of Australia, setting the stage for further investments by both companies in the region. Their ambitious plans and commitment to creating successful core assets will undoubtedly bring positive change and continued growth to Australia’s industrial landscape.
