The Winner Takes It All: How One Man Built His Property Empire from a Casino Background

Kev Tran, a product of Western Sydney, has found that the hard lessons he learned early in life have been instrumental in motivating and shaping his property investment strategy.

At only 32 years of age, Kev Tran has experienced the highs and lows of the real estate industry.

Mr Tran, whose parents were Vietnamese and faced many struggles when moving to Australia in the 1980s, was raised in a social housing complex in Liverpool, Western Sydney. By the time he was eight years old, his family had acquired their humble abode situated at Hinchinbrook, providing them comfort and security.

“Emerging from their experience in the Vietnam War, my parents had a strong perception of scarcity. As such, they were quite frugal and saved diligently; however, as far as wealth creation was concerned, there was little to no knowledge of investing or developing prosperity. Consequently, all post-tax income was utilised for depreciating assets rather than any investment opportunities,” Kev shared.

When his parents invested in a property in the nearby suburb of Miller, it caused such an insurmountable rift that their relationship would never be the same again.

“Even at the young age of 11 or 12, I could tell that this issue had damaged their relationship, and there was a growing resentment between them.

“As their relationship deteriorated and more misguided decisions were made, they began frequently fighting, ultimately breaking up. Subsequently, I often went extended periods with no contact from my father.

After residing with his father and aunt, he decided to pursue hospitality management at 21. This led him to a job opportunity at the Star Casino, tending to VIP guests—a remarkable feat for someone so young.

“Working at my job opened up new possibilities, as I was now in a world of unimaginable wealth; people spending tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars per day with ease.

“After researching the financial habits of successful and affluent people, I discovered that real estate was a major component in their long-term wealth-building strategies. This realisation inspired me to invest my savings in the property once I saved enough cash.”

Today, Kev Tran is a successful property investor who has built his empire from the ground up. He has accumulated multiple properties and uses them to generate consistent cash flow for himself and his family. He has also become well-versed in real estate investing, providing mentorship and guidance to others interested in entering this realm.
