Wendy’s, known for its delicious burgers and iconic frosty treats, is making a daring move in global expansion. It has partnered with Flynn Restaurant Group to open 200 Wendy’s restaurants in Australia by 2034, a pivotal moment in the company’s international growth journey.

This announcement comes after Wendy’s expressed its intention to enter the Australian dining scene earlier this year. A successful one-day pop-up event in Sydney in 2021 rekindled enthusiasm among fans Down Under, highlighting their eagerness for Wendy’s offerings and confirming the brand’s popularity.

“Australia is a strategic market for long-term growth for Wendy’s. Flynn Restaurant Group has incredible experience in the restaurant space, and we are thrilled to expand our relationship with them,” Abigail Pringle, President, International and Chief Development Officer of The Wendy’s Company, said.

The expansion plan is set to gain momentum post-2025, with the ambitious goal of establishing 200 Wendy’s restaurants across Australia by 2034. This growth will be facilitated through equity stores and sub-franchise partnerships.

Flynn Restaurant Group’s track record of successful management for renowned brands like Applebee’s, Taco Bell, and Panera and their operation of nearly 200 Wendy’s restaurants across multiple states attests to their capability to drive this expansion.

“We couldn’t be more excited about expanding our partnership with Wendy’s. It is a tremendous brand with significant untapped potential outside of the U.S. We think it is an especially great fit for Australia, given the savvy nature of the Australian consumer. We look forward to expanding the brand in the market and, in the process, redefining what Australians should expect from QSR,” Ron Bellamy, Chief Operating Officer of Flynn Restaurant Group, said. As Wendy’s embarks on this exciting journey into the Australian culinary landscape, it not only brings its delectable menu but also a promise to redefine quick-service dining experiences for discerning Australian palates.
